GULFPORT, MS—The sound rental company Concert
Systems USA Inc, which serves America's
Southeastern entertainment market, has
invested heavily in a substantial NEXO GEO T
tangent-array system, complete with the latest
NEXO processing technology and power
amplifiers from CAMCO.
Concert Systems adds the GEO T to a huge
existing inventory of NEXO P.A. systems,
including Alpha Series, PS Series and a large
quantity of GEO S tangent-array cabinets. The
company is now one of the largest users of
NEXO systems in the U.S., and is the largest
user of CAMCO high-specification power amps.
The newly-arrived NEXO stock includes 20 T4805
full-range and four T2815 downfill cabinets,
with eight CD18 subbass boxes. In addition to
four NX242 digital processors and the full
complement of flying hardware, Concert Systems
has ordered 14 CAMCO Vortex 6 power
amplifiers. According to Randy Frierson,
Concert System's proprietor, "I felt I needed
a premier line array. The GEO T we've got is
enough to handle an outdoor show for 20,000
people."
For the first time, Concert Systems will be
offering their customers, and themselves, a
choice of line arrays. "We bought NEXO's GEO S
equipment in 2003, and now it does about 75%
of our work," says Frierson. "Put simply, it
is the most incredible ballroom P.A. on the
face of the earth. But now, we'll have the
choice of GEO S or GEO T technology depending
on the venue, its size, the horsepower
requirements or the availability of flying
points."
Frierson says that having the new GEO T system
will change their marketing and their customer
base. "Although we're known for specializing
in live concert work rather than corporate
events, adding the NEXO GEO T to our inventory
will make us go after more festivals and
outdoor events." Concert Systems has already
lined up numerous shows for regular client KC
& the Sunshine Band, as well as a big
Christian festival and SpringFest in
Pensacola, Fla. "Because we have enormous
mix-and-match capability between the different
NEXO ranges, we can bid for multi-stage
projects, where we might use GEO T for the
main system, GEO S for delays and Alpha for
fills. It maximizes the potential of our
inventory, but without compromise because,
sonically, all the loudspeaker ranges have
similar characteristics: outfront vocals, very
smooth and pleasing high end and a distinctive
warmth."
